Welcome

I would like to welcome you all to the UAB Guitar Ensembles blog. I will admit that this is my first venturing into blogging. The overall purpose of this site is to keep everyone up-to-date on events, rehearsals, and generally talk about the guitar and music. As the year progresses I hope to add more and more to the blog.

Unlike past years, in 2010 the UAB Guitar Ensembles will be directed by me, Jeremy Grall, as director Joel Smith will, unfortunately, be leaving Birmingham for Denver, Colorado in September. Joel has done tremendous things with the UAB Guitar Ensembles and I have been impressed by both the progress of his individual applied students as well as the ensembles. It is Joel's high standards and amiability that will make it all the more sad to see him depart. I have been continually impressed by the dedication and high regard that his students have for him.

With this in mind, my goals for the UAB Guitar Ensembles will be to continue many of the same things that Joel has done so well. I look forward to seeing all of you this next year and I am sure that we will have a great time playing some fantastic music.
